So for Spring break I went home to Louisiana. I took an early morning flight to New Orleans the day after my last final and was there for a week and a half. It was a very short trip; I didn't get to do, see, are eat all I wanted to but since I haven't been home since Christmas 2010, this was truly a treat for me. I love living in L.A. but everyone knows "There is no place like home." Now that I'm back in L.A. I thought I would make of list of the things I love and miss about Louisiana.
In no particular order here is my top ten:
1. The Food is awesome!!! Catfish, shrimp, crawfish, crab.... if you are a seafood lover Louisiana is the place for you. And it is seasoned very well.
2. Daiquiri shops!!! Mostly seen in South Louisiana, I swear there was a Daiquiri shop every 10 minutes down the road. I finally stopped at Southpaws in Prairieville, LA and got there large Southpaw daiquiri mixed with peach and it was GOOOD.
3. Traffic..... There was none.
4. Parking..... Was FREE everywhere we went. A luxury in L.A.
5. Hair products..... I can actually get great hair products near my home instead of going to "the black side of town." In Louisiana every side of town has a decent hair store for black women.
6. Music.... I actually got to hear something besides top 40's. Did I mention the radio stations in L.A. suck
7. Casino's.... You don't have to drive 3 hours to vegas just to gamble. I won $27.00 in blackjack and left happy.
8. The Men??? Yeah I know I'm taken, but it's nice to be somewhere where black men actually like black women. Black women in Cali get no love. My 2nd day in Louisiana I got hit on by this man old enough to be my dad and he said I hurt his feelings when I told him I had a boyfriend. lmao
9. Did I mention food, oh yeah it was my number one but I had to put it on the list again since I only mentioned seafood. Cali people always bragging about In-n- Out but they need to try What-a-burger. And I really miss Sonic's half price drinks during their happy hours. Oh yeah!!!
10.BUT MOST OF ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS IS WHAT I MISS AND LOVE ABOUT LOUISIANA I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE YOU GUYS AGAIN.
